A master thesis in the Department of History at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah discussed the conditions of the Jews in Greek and Roman sources (500 BC - 200 AD).
The thesis of the researcher Khalid Hamad included the emergence of the Greek and Roman codification and the political conditions of the Jews until the establishment of the Jewish kingdoms in addition to the political conditions of the Jews until the end of Roman domination and the general (socio – religious – economic) conditions of the Jews in the Greek and Roman sources.
The thesis aims to identify the possibility of adopting the narratives of these Greek and Roman writers in establishing a solid and reliable basis for studying the common history between the Jews, the nations, and the ancient states. Were historians committed to neutrality and characterized by honesty in their transmission of the news of the prophets, in line with the conditions of the critical historian and the officer controlling the movement of ancient history.
The thesis concluded that the convergence of the minds and texts of Greek Jewish historians with the biblical writings, despite the additions and deletions that occur here and there, is closer to the truth of Jewish existence, while adding classical touches to enrich their blogging approach. By carefully reading the Greek and Roman texts, as well as the texts of the Old Testament, we find them full. By slandering the prophets of God, peace be upon them, describing them and their lives with the ugliest qualities and challenging their divine infallibility.
