The University of Basrah celebrated Global Entrepreneurship Week 2023 held from November 13–19, which saw the participation of numerous local and foreign companies in Basrah, along with representatives from various Iraqi universities.
The university's president, Dr. Saad Shahin Hamadi, highlighted the significance of entrepreneurial programmes, particularly the "Riyada" initiative, which was launched earlier by the Iraqi Prime Minister, Engineer Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani. The University of Basrah seeks to implement it. to prepare Basrah's youth for the local job market in collaboration with global and local companies.
Dr. Hamadi mentioned that the programme strives to support youth in starting creative and investment projects, partnering with international companies like Mitsubishi, Siemens, and other Iranian companies. Today, discussions with a representative of the Central Bank of Iraq will focus on supporting projects and providing loans, transforming individual projects into competitive companies.
Dr. Inas Abdulaziz Naser, Director of Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Office at the University, emphasised the importance of the celebration in raising awareness about entrepreneurship among students and graduates. Memorandums of understanding will be signed with various global and local companies, including the Central Bank of Iraq, Tafaol Company, and Siraj Al-Ma'arifa, with the support of the World Food Programme.
This celebration reflects the university's commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, providing employment opportunities, and supporting various segments of society.
This will reduce unemployment and crime, and today we will sign memoranda of understanding with many international and local companies, including the Central Bank of Iraq, Tafaol Company, and Siraj Al-Ma'arifa. We will receive support from the World Food Programme, affiliated with the United Nations, by promoting our work and products on this day, God willing.
