The thesis, written by student Tahrir Zaki Hassan, addressed the importance of studying ego depletion as a variable that negatively affects the lives of students, as the higher its levels, the greater the frequency of psychological conflict and the negative indicators associated with it in the psychological health of people in general and students in particular.
The importance of this research can be summarized as it sheds light on two modern types of psychological counselling
– Women’s guidance, storytelling guidance - and highlighting guidance activities and techniques therein.
And studying the variable of ego depletion, which has a clear impact on people’s self-control and regulation.
This research aims to:
1- Identify the effectiveness of women’s counseling and storytelling counseling in reducing ego depletion among female university students.
To achieve this goal, the following null hypotheses were formulated:
There are no statistically significant differences between the average ranks of the ego depletion scores for members of the first experimental group that is exposed to female guidance, the average ranks of the ego depletion scores for members of the second experimental group that is exposed to storytelling guidance, and the average ranks of the ego depletion scores for members of the control group in the post-measurement.
The thesis concluded that:
Through the results of the research, it is clear that the effectiveness of the women’s counseling program and storytelling counseling in reducing ego depletion among female university students came as a result of the careful selection of the type of counseling in the two counseling programs, as the two programs were consistent with the problems of the female students.
Recommendations
The Women's Empowerment Division in Iraqi universities cooperates with counseling and psychological care centers and units to train their workers on how to use the techniques of women's counseling and storytelling counseling and explain their importance in empowering women to self-control and organize their tasks to preserve their psychological energy from depletion
