(Social Skills Training for People with Special Needs)
Basra University organized a workshop on (training in social skills for people with special needs) with the participation of researchers and specialists
The workshop included a lecture presented by Assistant Professor Dr. (Mahmoud Shaker Abdul Razzaq Al-Maliki) in which he addressed the importance of social skills and the definition of social skills linguistically and idiomatically and the art of dealing with people with special needs in terms of drawing a smile and caring for people with needs in relation to hearing disability, the disabled, and visual disabilities for adults and children And adolescents, as well as types of mental, educational, physical and cerebral disabilities, neurological disabilities, speech impairment, delayed development, the most important behavioral and cognitive components, general and special dimensions for people with disabilities, training on independence skills, daily life skills, self-care skills, safety skills and rehabilitation Professional as well as scientific skills and daily life skills for children with Down syndrome.
The workshop discussed the recommendations of the World Health Organization for people with special needs, how to deal with people with special needs, and what are the most important conditions and methods of dealing and training in social skills by presenting scientific theories and previous studies from papers and scientific journals concerned with the latest scientific research that confirms the pain People with special needs with the community so that they feel caring and not isolated, and in order to learn from them the exercise of their daily life as if they were normal individuals practicing their normal life, especially Down syndrome How do they care about independence and self-skills and daily life skills from waking up until the end of his day
The workshop showed interest in this important segment as people of high determination and achieving the desired goals of this workshop, which are: Helping people with special needs to carry out their daily lives smoothly by helping them train and master these skills, and to know their most important psychological needs and deal with them on a scientific and psychological basis And urging them to pay attention to the independent aspect in their daily lives and to move away from dependency and dependence on others, and to make them a productive group in society by providing them with professional guidance according to the severity, degree and nature of the disability and encouraging them to think positively.
