University of Basra holds a cultural symposium entitled The psychological and social effects of drug abuse
The College of Dentistry at the University of Basra held a cultural awareness symposium on the psychological and social effects of drug abuse in cooperation with the Educational Guidance Unit at the college.
The symposium included a lecture delivered by Dr. Hana Abdel Nabi Al-Abadi, the definition of addiction, the negative effects of drug abuse, its impact on personality and human behavior, the reasons for abuse, and the characteristics of drug addiction.
Dr. Abdul Ali Habib gave a lecture in which he explained the position of the Iraqi legislator on the drug crime and the penalties contained in the amended Iraqi Drug Law No. 68 of 1965.
The symposium aims to urge students to stay away from suspicious gatherings that use or trade drugs, to inform the official authorities if they are present on campus, to protect them from this deadly poison, and to prevent the spread of this phenomenon among students.
