University of Basra organizes a lecture on Introduction to Learning and Teaching for the Engineering Specialization
The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra organized a lecture on Introduction to Learning and Teaching for the Engineering Specialization
The aim of the lecture, which is part of the teaching methods course, the updated curriculum for the southern region, is to provide the rationale for educational curricula and learning principles, to know the philosophy of the learning and teaching processes, to demonstrate full awareness of educational learning theories and their pedagogical applications, to be familiar with the principles of blended learning designs, and to provide a logical basis for teaching and learning strategies. Applying the types of thinking and learning its skills in a way that suits his specialty, mastering the management of the educational process, motivating students’ specialized activities, demonstrating awareness of institutional and programmatic academic accreditation and their structure, and mastering the structure of the ABET report on engineering applications.
The lecture, presented by the lecturer Ahmed Hatef Obaid at the College of Engineering at the University of Maysan, included a statement of a session to introduce the training program for the training unit.
The second session included an in-person lecture, the aim of which was to enable the trainee to define the concept of learning, teaching and teaching, analyze how the three concepts are interconnected and the effect of each one on the other, evaluate how the educational process achieves its goals, and identify areas that can be improved. The third session aims to define the concepts of ABET and the standards that must be achieved in Engineering and Information Technology programs and process evaluation that ensures the achievement of the standards required for accreditation by ABET
Evaluating how the educational process achieves its goals and identifying areas that can be improved
In the end, the recommendation was the necessity of applying the standards for programmatic accreditation (ABET) in the curricula of engineering colleges in order to be compatible with the requirements of the labor market, knowledge, full familiarity with theories of learning, teaching and teaching, and the use of modern methods in preparing lectures and teaching methods.
