Seventy-four Iraqi universities and colleges achieved a significant qualitative leap in the global UI GreenMetric ranking, marking a notable increase in international competitiveness compared to last year, within an evaluation of 1,183 university institutions worldwide.
This rigorous international ranking is based on precise criteria including infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste management, water resources, transportation, and the quality of education and scientific research in the fields of environment and sustainability. The University of Babylon topped the list of Iraqi universities by securing 133rd place globally, followed by the universities of Anbar, Al-Mustaqbal, Baghdad, Middle Furat Technical, and Basrah, among other reputable scientific institutions.
This achievement is part of a rising series of successes for Iraqi higher education in international forums. Iraqi universities have recorded a prominent presence in Shanghai Subject Rankings, the Times Higher Education (THE), QS, Scimago, URA, and Webometrics, reflecting the government's commitment to developing academic performance in accordance with international standards.
