The doctoral thesis of the student Ahlam Abbas Hassan was discussed at the University of Basra, College of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, which discusses a numerical study of the cooling of hot surfaces by oscillatory shock jetting. The current thesis investigates the use of sweeping impact plate jets to enhance heat transfer on a hot flat plate. Currently, the sweep jet is produced using a fluid oscillator, which requires a carefully designed feedback chamber and a very highly compressed air source.
The researcher concluded that convective heat transfer rates increase. Increasing frequency leads to the same flow structures and heat transfer mechanisms. The percentage increase in average Nusselt number is better at low heat fluxes and increases with increasing Reynolds number due to mixing
