The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra held a lecture on the fundamentals of measurement and assessment. The objective of the lecture, which is part of the updated curriculum teaching methods course for the southern region at the University of Basra, is to equip new instructors with postgraduate degrees (Master's and Ph.D.) with the essential skills for designing measurement tools and their correction mechanisms.
The lecture, presented by Dr. Haider Abdul Zahra Allwan, the director of the Continuous Education Center at the University of Maysan and a member of the expert committee in writing and training the teaching methods curriculum towards integrated learning, covered understanding the concepts of measurement, assessment, and evaluation, their types, and how to employ them in the teaching process. It also focused on distinguishing between types of scales in terms of usage, differentiating between types of assessment, designing effective tests, and formulating objective and essay-type questions
