The College of Dentistry, in cooperation with the Educational Guidance Unit in our college and in coordination with the Center for Educational Guidance and Psychological Care at the University of Basra, organized an awareness-raising symposium entitled (Deviant Ideas and Their Negative Effects on the University Student) as part of its guidance plan for this year for college students at the Bab Al-Zubair site / Imam Ali Hall. .
The symposium aims to raise awareness among our students and protect them against the deviant ideas and behaviors prevalent due to the spread of social media.
The symposium covered the following topics: educating the student when receiving information, analyzing it, ensuring its authenticity before being affected by it and believing it, and defining some of the terms of incorrect ideas that are currently widespread, such as: degrading content, electronic blackmail, electronic addiction, atheism, and bullying.
Present at the symposium were Assistant Professor Dr. Hanaa Sadiq Al-Badran, Director of the Center for Educational Guidance and Psychological Care, Assistant Professor Dr. Ikthar Khalil Ibrahim, College of Education for Pure Sciences, Assistant Lecturer Hassan Shaaban, College of Education for Pure Sciences, and the symposium was moderated by Mrs. Sajida Abdel Wahab, Responsible for the Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Dentistry.
