The Dean of the college of Medicine the University of Basrah Prof. Dr.Murtadh AlMusafer attended a scientific symposium on updates and developments in the treatment of diabetes in children
The symposium was sponsored by the University of Basra - Basrah and Al-Zahraa colleges of Medicine,

The seminar was attended by the President of Basrah Doctor’s syndicate and a large number of consultant doctors.
The most important topics were discussed, the most important of which is the need to spread health awareness to avoid serious complications of the disease such as sudden hypoglycemia, loss of consciousness, high blood sugar, which leads to increased blood acidity, which is called Diabetic ketoacidosis.
Dr. Dhafer Tawfeeq , a consultant pediatrician at the college of Medicine of Basra presented the modern therapeutic methods for the disease.
The College of Medicine looks forward to the establishment of the Chronic Diseases Unit, which is concerned with students affected by it, as well as spreading health awareness through students in important social places.
