A master's thesis in the Department of Ecology, College of Science at the University of Basra discussed the role of some aquatic plants in removing some environmental pollutants in the orchards of Basra Governorate.
Student Muhammad Osama Daoud’s thesis included comparing the role of plants in filtering pollutants and estimating trace elements in the targeted channels.
The thesis aims to highlight the possibility of using aquatic plants to treat pollutants due to their effect in reducing the concentration of heavy metals in water, soil and palm leaves.
The letter recommended conducting more studies on the pollution of the Shatt al-Arab canals, paying attention to aquatic plants, including salt ester plants, and raising awareness to demonstrate their importance and role in improving water quality by removing pollutants.
