The Department of History at the College of Education for Human Sciences - University of Basra organized a scientific symposium on the occasion of the Day of the Valiant Iraqi Army and the Day of the Iraqi Police, under the slogan of the Army and the Police in the Eyes of an Academy.
The symposium, which was attended by the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Professor Dr. Nidaa Muhammad Baqir, the Assistant Dean for Scientific and Administrative Affairs, department heads and college professors, aimed to highlight the heroic role played by the Iraqi army and police and the foundations of their establishment.
The symposium, which was presented by a number of professors and officers from the Operations Command and the police in Basra, showed the beginnings of the establishment of the Iraqi army and the circumstances that accompanied it, the types of weapons and their preparation, and the sources of armament. The compulsory service law was discussed, the reasons that prompted the enactment of this law, the resistance expressed by the Iraqis at the beginning of its imposition, and the role of The Iraqi Army over the course of its establishment in defense of Iraq and the Arab countries. The symposium also highlighted the role of the Iraqi police in maintaining internal security, the beginning of its establishment, the personalities who assumed its leadership until the end of the monarchy in Iraq, and the connection of the strength and weakness of this apparatus to the personalities who assumed its leadership.
