The Basic Sciences Branch at the College of Dentistry at the University of Basra held a scientific symposium on the role of chemistry in climate change, delivered by Dr. Hoda Mahdi Younis, which is a study on long-term greenhouse gases present in the atmosphere.
The lecturer pointed out that chemical gases contribute significantly to climate change and global warming, the sources of these natural and human gases, their chemical composition, the most important reactions that occur in the atmosphere, which contribute significantly to the various climate effects, and the effect of the increase in the percentage of these gases on increasing the Earth’s temperature and the release of pollutants and their effect on the Earth’s surface. Ozone and also on natural water bodies.
The lecture aims to explain the importance of reducing gas emissions and volatile hydrocarbon compounds from human emissions and various energy sources and exploiting them in a way that is safe for the climate and the environment.
