University of Basrah organizes the annual evaluation conference of the Marine Sciences Center
Marine Sciences Center at University of Basrah organized the annual evaluation conference for the year 2023 under the slogan “Continuous evaluation is a guide to scientific sobriety.”
The conference aims to adopt the general policy of the Ministry of Higher Education and University of Basrah in order to advance the scientific reality of the country and strive to make scientific research the way to maximize resources and provide the material requirements necessary to sustain it and work to provide services to the community in various fields, whether scientific, awareness-raising or cultural, in order to achieve the concept of the university’s role in serving society.
The director of the center, Dr. Shaker Ghaleb Ajeel, explained that the center aims to develop medium-term strategic programs and plans and to provide leadership and excellence in publishing solid scientific research in many scientific fields adopted by the six scientific departments of the center, as well as “setting the rules for documented scientific data about the Iraqi marine environment, which constitutes The starting point is to protect the environmental capabilities of the water resources available in the country.
The Center is also interested in developing the skills of its members by raising their academic level and field and scientific expertise, and keeping pace with scientific and technological development and the requirements of academic standards, to occupy a competitive position locally and regionally.
The conference included a presentation of the center’s achievements, the scientific plan, statistics for the teaching staff and employees, and the number of research papers published in the scientific plan and published in international archives for the last four years. The external participation of researchers in international conferences was also presented, and the numbers of books written were discussed, in addition to the projects of the center’s advisory office.
At the end of the conference activities, certificates were distributed by University President to the distinguished professors and employees at the center.
