The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Basra organized a discussion panel entitled Love and its essence according to Ibn Hazm in The Ring of the Dove in the era of the Tawaifs and Almoravids.
The episode aimed to clarify the foundations upon which Ibn Hazm relied in his definition of this essence in the problem between attributes and connection.
The episode presented by graduate student Inaam Mustafa Kazem showed the extent of Ibn Hazm’s interest in setting controls for love in Andalusian society, based on religious motives driven by his desire for this society to return to its Arab authenticity.
