The College of Dentistry at the University of Basra held a symposium entitled Climate Changes and their Effects on Human Health and Comfort. Climate is an essential and fundamental component of the systems that support life on the surface of the Earth.
In his lecture, Dr. Hana Ali Hussein, a teacher, stated that climate change has contributed to serious and perhaps permanent changes in the geological, biological, and environmental systems of our planet. These changes have led to the occurrence of many environmental risks to human health through direct or indirect impact on human life and health through The influence of climate elements on (heat waves, ultraviolet radiation, and extreme weather events), or indirectly through the role of climate in causing changes in other biological and geochemical systems.
The lecturer pointed out in his lecture that climate changes during the last two glacial periods contributed to the massive destruction of life species and the extinction of most of them, putting the human race in an important challenge with nature.
The phenomenon of climate change has emerged clearly recently as a result of global warming due to increasing human activities to burn more fossil fuels, which has led to an increase in the concentration of gases that cause this phenomenon, which has had a negative impact on the climate of Iraq, with rising temperatures and decreasing amounts of rainfall. These changes have contributed In direct and indirect impact on human life and health.
