A master's thesis /faculty of science at the University of Basrah (Association between Coxsackievirus B and increased risk of islet autoimmunity in patients at risk for type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), and showed the researcher's thesis (Shams Salahuddin M. AlSaad). Thesis aims are to investigate whether coxsackievirus group B (CVB) strains are associated with the onset of islet autoimmunity and type 1 diabetes (T1DM) and included the diagnosis of the virus by serological methods like ELISA and also detection of virus by PCR, also detection of some autoantibodies that correlated to the virus and accompanied with type one diabetes and the study was recommended
Further study should be done related with the following:
1. Study other types of viruses responsible for T1DM.
2. Use of stool samples in diagnosing enteroviruses.
3. Pathological study of viruses responsible for T1DM.
4. A comprehensive molecular study of Coxsackievirus B.
5. Studying the clinical and genetic factors of affected children with T1DM)
