The Geography Department at the College of Education for Human Sciences - University of Basra organized a scientific trip to the Harir Marshlands Research Station within the government program to preserve the environment and sustainable development and reduce the effects of pollution and climate change.
The scientific trip aims to explain the importance of establishing the station in the heart of the marshes and to inform the students about the environmental aspect because of its impact on the lives of the residents.
The scientific trip undertaken by the students of the third stage, accompanied by the teacher, Muhammad Qahtan Al-Ghalibi, included introducing the students to the marshes research station, its objectives, the importance of its location in the heart of the Al-Salal Marsh and its connection with the Al-Himar Marsh, all the way to the Shatt Al-Arab at the Karma Ali site, and explaining the importance of the environmental aspect, the sustainability of wetlands, and their inclusion within the Convention. Ramsar International is concerned with protecting marshes and wetlands, legislating laws that help preserve that environment, and reviewing the importance of marshes as a natural and environmental resource as well as biodiversity.
