
The Women's Affairs Unit at the College of Dentistry at the University of Basra organized a lecture entitled "Combat Drugs", with the aim of educating college students on ways to prevent this problem by educating the family about the dangers of medications and drugs to which family members are exposed, in addition to knowing the treatment mechanism for this societal scourge that has Negative effects on the entire society.

Employee Muhannad Hassan Saud, Director of Media from the Narcotics Control Administration, said that the phenomenon of drug abuse is one of the most threatening problems to human societies in our world today, and the dangers of drugs and their direct and indirect impact on the central nervous system in the human body, pointing to the types of narcotic substances and their definition.
Reference was made to the factors that lead to the abuse and trade of narcotic substances, including family, society, bad companions, weak religious faith, economic factors, and the quick search for wealth, noting that abuse leads to many diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart and arterial diseases, hepatitis, and cancer.
On the sidelines of the lecture, samples of narcotic substances seized in several cases were presented to be presented to educate college students about the forms and types of drugs, methods of concealing them, and methods of taking them.
At the end of the lecture, which was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Fateh Abdel-Sahib Al-Khaqani, Dean of the College of Dentistry, and a number of members of the teaching and administrative staff and students, the Colonel presented and responded to the various questions and inquiries of the audience.
