The Department of History at the College of Education for Human Sciences - University of Basra organized a panel discussion on the Iraqi Red Crescent Society and its contributions during the royal era 1932-1958.
The seminar aimed to explain the founding of the association, the circumstances surrounding it, and the roles for which it was established.
The episode presented by Dr. Furat Abdel Hassan Kazem showed the beginning of the founding of the Society in 1932 by Arshad Al-Omari, Mayor of Baghdad, after the agreement of 150 people from the supervision and notables of the Kingdom of Iraq at that time and the establishment of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society, which received recognition from the International Cross and Red Crescent in 1934 AD, and the Society contributed to supporting Groups of society in times of natural disasters, in addition to their contributions to supporting the health situation, providing health advice, and supporting the poor. The seminar stressed the need to pay attention to humanitarian associations for their effective role in times of crises.
