Under the direct supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Majid Asghar Muhammad Al-Nawab, Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Basra
In line with the mission of the University of Basra, the philosophy of the College of Nursing, and its societal role in educating school students in Basra Governorate.
The College of Nursing at the University of Basra organized a field visit to Mawtani private schools, in cooperation with the Student Activities Unit, accompanied by fourth-year students, and under the supervision of the faculty. The visiting delegation consisted of Dr. Fatima Hassan, assistant teacher Youssef Salman, arts instructor Muhammad Qasim, teacher Maher Abdel Amir, a member of the teaching staff, and Mr. Alaa Jabbar Rahaif, Director of the Media and Government Communication Division. They were received by Dr. Maha Asghar Muhammad Al-Nawab, Director of Mawtani Private Schools.
The visit aimed to distinguish the physical and psychosocial characteristics and to introduce the students to the most important methods of first aid, in addition to practicing the nursing role in school and community health.
The visit included the most basic methods for cases of suffocation, strokes, and burns, and included a course in which simulated dolls were used to familiarize students with such cases.
Health educational activities were also presented to the students, which included questions and answers for the students by the fourth stage students. The health medical practices that must be performed for the patient until the patient is transferred to the hospital were also discussed.
At the end of the visit, the faculty members and students of the College of Nursing at Basra University extended their thanks and appreciation to the administration of Mawtani Private School and the educational staff for their reception and cooperation, and mutual thanks were given to the students for their outstanding performance.
It is worth noting that these activities are carried out by the Deanship of the College of Nursing and under the direct supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Majid Asghar Muhammad Al-Nawab on a regular and ongoing basis and come in the form of several visits made by college students to Basra Governorate’s governmental and private schools to work on educating school students on the importance of this type of First aid, which raises their awareness
