On Tuesday, February 20, 2024, the College of Nursing at Basra University hosted a Qur’anic competition on “memorizing and reciting the Holy Qur’an.”
The competition, which was judged by the members of the arbitration committee, included the judge of the rules of Tajweed, Mr. Muhammad Saeed Al-Ghuraifi, the judge of voice, Mr. Baqir Hassanein Jalil, the judge of stopping and starting, Sheikh Abdul Basit Al-Sahlani, the judge of the quality of memorization.

The Qur’anic competition held aimed to instill in young souls the love of the Holy Qur’an, its sanctification and glorification, and the love of the Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, and to encourage memorizing the Book of God Almighty and practically applying the provisions of Tajweed while reciting the Holy Qur’an.
The committee recommended repeating these competitions in the future to encourage students to participate permanently in them and to encourage them to memorize the Holy Qur’an and apply its blessed rulings because it reforms and refines souls.
At the conclusion of the competition, the judging committee extended its thanks and appreciation to the Dean of the College, represented by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Majid Asghar Muhammad Al-Nawab, to the members of the Student Activities Department, and to the organizing committee. Then, incentive gifts were distributed to the participating students, and certificates of appreciation and shields to the members of the judging committee.
