The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education for Human Sciences - University of Basra organized a seminar on Internet addiction.
The episode aimed to introduce the concept of Internet addiction, the reasons that drive individuals to do so, its symptoms, ways to prevent it, its effects, and the method of treatment.
The episode, presented by lecturer Shatha Jasib Abadi, showed that using the Internet is a pathological behavior
It leads to behavioral disturbances, feelings of anxiety and tension, and may lead to depression and poor social relationships.
The researcher explained that the most important causes of addiction are family upbringing for the child to escape from the reality he lives in due to family problems or because of comfort to spend leisure time.
The researcher recommended the need to pay attention to the child’s upbringing, monitor them, determine the hours they spend on the Internet, and solve the problems within the family and the reason for their distance from real life.
