The College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Basra organized a scientific workshop on the basics of scientific research within the program for developing research skills for postgraduate students.
The workshop aimed to introduce the scientific research method, its importance, the difference between the terms method and research, and the basic skills that a scientific researcher must have.
The workshop, which was presented by Professor Dr. Maeda Mardan, dealt with the definition of the term “method” and “research.” The workshop demonstrated the basic skills of the scientific researcher, such as the personal desire for the research topic, his ability to be patient, endurance, humility, focus, and the power of observation, as well as his ability to research and analyze.
It highlighted the difficulties faced by postgraduate researchers when choosing the titles of their research, how to write the research problem, deriving its objectives, formulating its hypotheses or questions, leading to analyzing the data and interpreting the results, and how to identify and address the errors they encounter during their research career to improve their research skills.
