Master’s thesis research in the Department of Geography / College of Education for Human Sciences / University of Basra (spatial analysis of the phenomenon of unemployment in Al-Zubair District) by the student Qamar Abdul Karim Qaddar Al-Khafaji.
The study aimed to know the number of unemployed people in Al-Zubair District and the size of the labor force, as well as knowing the reasons that lead to the phenomenon of unemployment and the effects resulting from unemployment in Al-Zubair District.
The thesis included an introduction, five chapters, and concluded with results and proposals as follows: 0 Chapter One: Discussing the characteristics of the population in Al-Zubair district and according to its administrative units in terms of their geographical distribution and gender and age composition.
0 The second chapter: studied the characteristics of the workforce in Al-Zubair District and their distribution according to economic activities, professional status, and academic status.
Chapter Three: Discussing the phenomenon of unemployment in Al-Zubair District, the distribution of the unemployed population according to the environment, and studying the demographic and social characteristics of the unemployed.
Chapter Four: Study of the reasons leading to the unemployment phenomenon in Al-Zubair District.
Chapter Five: Discussing the effects of unemployment in Al-Zubair District.
The most prominent results reached by the researcher are the variation in the number of unemployed residents in Al-Zubair district and according to the administrative units, and the multiplicity and variation of the reasons leading to the phenomenon of unemployment, in addition to that, the impact of the risks of unemployment on the individual and society, including the low standard of living, late marriage, dropout from school, child labor, and The absence of clear harmony between the outcomes of education and the labor market, both qualitatively and quantitatively. Unemployment also contributed to security instability and the spread of phenomena that are not appropriate for our society, and then solutions were provided to reduce this phenomenon
