The Department of History at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah discussed the master thesis on aspects of the social and economic life of Fatimid Egypt in light of the texts of the book (Akhbar Misr) by Al-Musbahi (d. 420 AH / 1029 AD).
The researcher Nada Hashem Hammadi Habib’s thesis included three chapters in which she explained Al-Musbahi, his biography, his book, and the social conditions in Egypt during the era of the Fatimid state, in addition to the economic conditions.
The thesis aims to identify the social and economic conditions of Fatimid Egypt in light of the texts of the Egyptian historian Al-Musbahi and his role in transmitting news and explaining the nature of society through those texts.
The thesis concluded that the historian conveyed the social and economic conditions of Fatimid Egypt, including occasions, rites, and rituals, his closeness to the Fatimid court, and his relationship with the caliphs, especially the caliph, Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah.
The thesis recommended: researching the social and economic conditions of Egypt through the texts found that conveyed to us a picture of those conditions.
