The College of Pharmacy held a scientific workshop entitled (Extracorporeal drug release test for hard disks based on the basic application guide for fifth-year students)
The workshop aimed to introduce the fifth-year graduation project students to the theoretical and practical foundations of testing drug release outside the body from hard disks for the purpose of providing scientific foundations for them to complete their research in a smooth and productive manner.
The workshop included a theoretical part in which the lecturer Nour Youssef Farid, gave a lecture in which she explained the theoretical framework for testing for release outside the body as an important part of quality control tests for pharmaceutical preparations, as it is used to reduce the discrepancy in the performance of different versions and also contributes to the rejection or acceptance of produced preparations. The lecture also touched on the different types of devices used to perform the test and the factors affecting the outputs. It was also explained how to use official pharmacopoeias to extract information about each treatment in terms of measurement methods, type of device, and acceptable test conditions and values.
As for the practical part of the workshop, it included the practical application, which was explained by the lecturer, Malath Abdel Latif, on the device used for the test and how to prepare the device according to the requirements of the relevant test for the drug used, as well as a practical application of the measurement method using an ultraviolet spectrophotometer device and calculating the test results for the purpose of comparing them with the values required in the official references.
