The Department of Qur’anic Sciences and Islamic Education at the College of Education for Human Sciences - University of Basra organized a scientific symposium entitled Bright Moments in the Life of Imam Hassan (peace be upon him).
The symposium aimed to clarify the position of Imam Hassan, peace be upon him, in the history of Islam, and his role in preserving the integrity of the nation and preventing its deviation.
The symposium, which was moderated by a number of the department’s teachers, included an explanation of the life of the Imam and his position in the Qur’an through the verses of purification and the verse of Mubahalah, and the hadiths of the Messenger (may God bless him and his family and grant them peace), such as the hadith of the two heavyweights and the hadith of the master of the youth of the people of Paradise. The symposium touched on the appeasement of Imam Hassan (peace be upon him) with Muawiyah b. Abu Sufyan and the problem of naming, was it a peace or a truce, and his role in directing people to peace and reform in this world and the hereafter.
