A master’s thesis in the Department of Geography/College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Basra, researched a geographical analysis of the phenomenon of early divorce in the Shatt al-Arab District, by the student (Duaa Hatem Majeed).
The thesis dealt with the phenomenon of early divorce in the Shatt al-Arab District, which has been increasing in a way that raises concern because it is one of the social problems that disintegrate the family entity and its negative consequences on society in general. The study aims to know the extent of early divorce in the Shatt al-Arab District for the years (2013). , 2016, 2019, 2022).
The study included revealing the spatial and temporal variation of this phenomenon and identifying the most important reasons leading to early divorce, its effects, and their relationship to demographic, social, and economic variables through divorce lawsuits in personal status courts, as well as a questionnaire that was distributed to divorced men and women.
The letter concluded that there are several results, the most important of which is the increase in early divorce cases among holders of the “primary certificate” for both sexes, at a rate of (50.3%) for males and (36.5%) for females, and the increase in early divorce cases among those with the husband’s profession (earner) and the profession (earner) for the husband. Housewife) for the wife, with a percentage of (43.4%) and (97.8%). The study also found that there are multiple reasons for early divorce, with social reasons being at the forefront, with a percentage of (78.5%)
