The University of Basra organizes a seminar on ambiguity in contemporary visual poetry
The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Education for Human Sciences - University of Basra organized a seminar on evasion techniques in contemporary visual poetry
The seminar aimed to shed light on the most important visual poetic texts by contemporary poets of Basra and the mechanisms of evasion in visual poetry, and to research the impact of the poetic, intellectual and cultural transformations of postmodern concepts in contemporary visual poetry.
The seminar, presented by graduate student Helen Tohme Nehme, included a study of the elusiveness in the social, religious, and political contents, the artistic structure, and its poetic and pictorial manifestations through the visual poetic texts of contemporary poets of Basra, and the exploitation of the poetic image based on combining contradictions in creating an elusive structure in the visual poem, and the impact of various factors. It places the poet in front of contradictions that push him into poetic experiments of an elusive nature, with the aim of shuffling the cards and overturning the evidence.
