Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Basra, Assistant Professor Dr. Majid Asghar Muhammad Al-Nawab, and in cooperation with the Basra Health Department, the Continuing Education Unit organized a workshop on the role of health institutions in family planning and effective programs for society on the importance of family planning, in which Assistant Professor Dr. Sondos Baqir Daoud, Associate Professor, lectured. Dean for Scientific Affairs and Consultant Dr. Jinan Abdel Razzaq Najm, Family Medicine Consultant, from the Public Health Department in the Basra Health Department, and Dr. Sawsan Abdel Razzaq, Faculty Member.
The workshop dealt with reproductive health in family planning, introducing family planning and its benefits, specialized centers in family planning in Iraq, providing services both in hospitals and health centers and in maternity halls, and providing advice in correcting misconceptions.
The long-term goal of the workshop is to reduce maternal and child mortality rates, reduce the non-existent need for women of childbearing age, provide appropriate needs for women, and conduct ongoing educational workshops and seminars for women.
