A Researcher from the College of Pharmacy Participates in the International Conference on Applied Life Sciences
The study highlighted the promising therapeutic properties of the local plant (Loranthus europaeus), confirming its positive efficacy against breast cancer cells and its significant role as a powerful antioxidant.
Professor Dr. Nisreen Waleed Khalid, a faculty member at the College of Pharmacy, University of Basrah, participated in the International Conference on Applied Life Sciences organized by the College of Science at the University of Basrah. The participation included presenting a scientific study aimed at discovering promising natural remedies for cancer.
The research focused specifically on the plant (Loranthus europaeus), a parasitic plant that grows on oak trees and proliferates in northern Iraq. The study evaluated its efficacy as an antioxidant and its potential against breast cancer. The laboratory results demonstrated a remarkable effectiveness of the plant's fruit extract in eradicating cancer cells within the specific cell line tested in the study, alongside revealing its significant importance as an active antioxidant agent.
