The Arabic Language Department at the College of Education for Humanities at the University of Basra organized a panel discussion on pragmatic gestures and their role in narrative discourse.
The seminar aimed to explain the concept of signals, their types and importance, and to clarify the meaning of pragmatics, analysis and discourse.
The episode presented by researcher Noha Saad Manati Ghali showed that linear pragmatics has its roots in the analytical, logical, positivist philosophy that branched out into the theory of speech acts and pragmatic cues, and was called cognitive-cognitive pragmatics because of its reliance on the recipient’s inferential faculty, while integrated pragmatics is based on integrating connotation with context, and it appeared.
