The Development and Continuing Education Center at Basra University held a lecture on instructional design. The aim of the lecture, which is part of the Teaching Methods course in the updated curriculum for the southern region within the applied specialization, is to understand how to design a lesson in a professional and beneficial manner for both the teacher and the student, as it saves time and effort for both parties.
The lecture, presented by Dr. Inaam Mahmoud Najm Al-Rubaie, included a presentation consisting of the title, objectives, lecture content, target audience, educational methods, and was introduced with a short video clip to grab the trainees' attention. It covered the scientific content, sub-activities, conclusions, closing, sources, and end-of-unit tasks.
In conclusion, the recommendation was to emphasize the importance of designing the scientific content of the lesson according to regulations, setting smart objectives for the course content to be clear, precise, measurable, and applicable, specifying a time frame, and choosing the appropriate strategy according to the specialization and topic to ensure conveying the scientific material to the student. Formulating multiple activities to enhance motivation and active participation of the student, making the student the central focus of the educational process, with the teacher being a guide and facilitator, and providing suitable educational means to facilitate the delivery of scientific content to the student.
