A doctoral dissertation in the Department of History/College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Basra, investigated the popular will and its impact on determining political paths in the thought of the People of the House (peace be upon them) 11-61 AH by the student (Muhammad Sahib Jiyad)
The thesis by student Muhammad Sahib Jiyad aims to identify the role of the People of the House (peace be upon them) in activating the will of society and directing it politically in the right direction to achieve the desired goal that would serve the interest of the nation and define its political system that serves everyone.
The thesis addressed (the active role played by societies throughout history (11-61) in determining their political system, whether that role was positive that served the interest of society or negative and harmful to the interest of society).
The thesis concluded that the People of the House (peace be upon them) had clear visions of the popular will by directing the energies of society in the correct political direction.
The thesis recommended the necessity of purity of governance, free of all forms of injustice, persecution and coercion, and its reliance on the conscious popular base as a basis for administration. The presence of the will in society to fight against enemies and oppression is one of the reasons for achieving dignity and rights. The unity and renaissance of society for the sake of reviving the Sunnah and activating the provisions of religion has its effects.
