The Center for Development and Continuing Education at the University of Basra organized a lecture on measurement, evaluation, and feedback within the medical specialty for the third unit as part of the updated teaching methods curriculum for the southern region.
The aim of the lecture was to introduce the concepts of measurement, evaluation, assessment, and feedback, their types, and their importance. It also focused on the use of feedback to improve the processes of learning and teaching, identifying different types of measurement tools and distinguishing between them, and equipping the target audience with the essential skills needed to design measurement tools and their correction mechanisms.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Qutaiba Muslim Dawood, a faculty member at the College of Medicine at Al-Zahraa University of Basra. He provided definitions of measurement, evaluation, and assessment, explained the purposes of measurement, and discussed the types of evaluation, exam mapping with examples, tasks, and the difficulty-ease coefficient.
In conclusion, the recommendation was made to use educational objectives in measurement and evaluation, utilize exam mapping in preparing evaluations, and apply feedback to improve deficiencies.
