(Effects of bioactive compounds extracted from different fungal species as anti-Leishmania and antimicrobial agents) and showed the researcher's thesis ( Aseel Abdul Hameed) Isolating of secondary metabolites from fungi in extreme environments and white mushrooms and using them as an alternative treatment for leishmaniasis. The study included isolating and diagnosing fungi from the saline environments on the southern coast of the Al-Faw region, phenotypically and genetically, and extracting the secondary metabolites from them, as well as collecting white mushrooms (mushrooms) and extracting the secondary metabolites from them with a separation column, then characterizing the resulting extracts chemically using known chemical methods and testing their toxicity and experimenting with the Leishmania and pathogenic microbial agents in vitro and in vivo. The study recommended (the necessity of increasing interest in isolating fungi from extreme environments because of their importance in stimulating the latter to produce secondary metabolite compounds that can be used in the pharmaceutical fields as an alternative treatment and necessary to complete the final diagnosis of the chemical compounds obtained and conduct histological tests on the cell- line instead of using laboratory animals and using extracts obtained during the study on other parasites.
