The thesis dealt with the extent of the spatial interaction of economic activities between the city of Basra, which is the center of the governorate, and the cities of Qurna and Zubair, by relying on quantitative scientific statistical methods represented by (the gravity model, the Rayleigh model, the center of gravity model, the relative proximity model, determining the closest city using equal time lines, Administrative Region), to reveal the nature of spatial interaction between the main cities in Basra Governorate, to draw a picture of the extent of the influence of the functional scope in the governorate.
The thesis aims to reveal the size of the interaction between them because the city of Basra is the first city among its affiliated cities represented by the governorate within its administrative region and between the cities of Qurna and Zubair, to know the cut-off points between them and to analyze the size of the spatial interaction between the cities of (Basra, Qurna, and Zubair), and to know the extent of the balance of geographical distribution. economic activities in these cities in order to reach appropriate solutions.
The thesis concluded that the city of Basra occupied the largest number of administrative institutions, amounting to (48) administrative institutions, equivalent to (51.1%) of the total administrative institutions in the main cities in the governorate, and thus spatial interaction is active between these cities, as a result of the concentration of most of the administrative institutions.
