A master's thesis in the Department of English at the College of Arts, University of Basrah, explored 'The Place in Sam Shepard’s Selected Plays: A Geocritical Study.'
The thesis presented by researcher Ahmed Hatem Ebadi included seven chapters (variables, theoretical framework, analysis of the plays “The Buried Child, A Fool for Love, The True West, and The Lie of Reason”, and the Conclusion.
The thesis aims to identify the impact of the physical environment on the main characters of the four plays.
The thesis concluded that the place has an impact on the psychology of the main characters within the four plays, and that critical geography as an analytical and theoretical tool was applied to analyze the four plays of Sam Shepard.
