The Department of Ecology at the College of Science at the University of Basra organized a seminar entitled “Measuring the concentration of hydrocarbon compounds in some types of vegetables and fruits in Basra Governorate.”
The seminar, which was lectured by postgraduate - master’s student Ayat Ammar Abdul Jabbar, aims to determine the concentrations of aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbon compounds in vegetables and fruits in Basra Governorate and to know the sources of hydrocarbon compounds in them.
The study recommended removing agricultural lands from industrial and urban areas, not irrigating with polluted water, reducing the use of chemical pesticides, the necessity of washing fruits and vegetables, and following environmentally friendly agricultural methods.
