The Department of geoscience at the college of Science discussed a doctoral thesis entitled: Mineral and chemical assessment of limestone rocks in the formations bearing them in the zarbatiya region/ eastern Iraq for the purposes of cement industry for student Ahmed Osama Abdul Qahar.the study included a comprehensive qualitative study of limestone placed among four geological formations revealed in the zarbatiya region and evaluating them mineralogically and chemically as basic raw materials in the cement industry for the need of the region for this. The study aimed to manufacture cement from these rocks using technological methods for the manufacture and preparation of cement outside Iraq and then evaluated the product according to Iraqi and international specifications and there was a match with the international requirements of this industry
