The College of Education for Human Sciences at the University of Basra organized a scientific educational symposium for fourth-year students on moral values and their impact on the positive behavior of graduates of colleges of education.
The symposium aimed to explain the importance of the moral system in university education and its role in student behavior, and to reflect that image in the field of work.
The Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Professor Dr. Nedaa Muhammad Baqir, stated that it is a big mistake for some to think that the role of schools and colleges is limited to the theoretical inculcation of diverse knowledge and information. Educational institutions have an educational and psychological role that interacts with their educational role. The theoretical inculcation of diverse knowledge and information It is not sufficient alone to form values, and therefore conscience, and to modify the individual’s behavior, so that he has a specific outlook and a specific direction, with regard to his activity in the various aspects of life. Limiting oneself to theoretical indoctrination is a serious mistake given what the behavioral phenomenon is based on, which depends and is based on three pillars: perception. The subject, knowing it, then getting emotional about it and practicing it.
The Dean of the College added that modern thought does not separate between thought and action, or between theories and application, or between slogan and practice. All of these things mean that values become worthless idle talk if they become mere talk that is separate and far from the reality of the life that the individual lives, and from his lived experiences.
For his part, the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Khaled Abdel-Kadhim Al-Adhari, stated that the colleges of education are responsible for the educational and psychological preparation for the most important element in the educational process, which is the teacher. Therefore, building values is our goal and that they do not forget the lesson they have learned. Therefore, the Deanship of the College would like to remind them, wishing them a bright and fulfilling future. Life is better, emphasizing the abilities, capabilities and morals of our students, which we are proud of, and which inevitably reflects the role of our senior professors in preparing them in a way that is consistent with the labor market and the needs of various educational institutions.
