A lecturer at the College of Science at Basra University, Mr. Moataz Hikmat Othman, in the Department of Ecology, published an article entitled Pregnant women and the scourge of air pollution: a threat to the future of our children.
The article, which included a detailed explanation of air pollution and its dangerous effects on humans in general and on pregnant women in particular, dealt with women’s exposure to pollution inside homes due to cleaning materials and outside homes from car exhausts and other things, and the side effects and diseases that affect fetuses and newborn children.
The article was published in the Iraqi “sky” news agency, which outlined tips for reducing exposure to air pollutants, encouraging the installation of air pollution monitoring stations, and encouraging tree planting.
