A PhD thesis in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah examined the population composition of some communicable and non-communicable diseases in Basra Governorate.
The thesis presented by researcher Akram Ali Hussein Obaid included five chapters (the theoretical introduction and spatial distribution of communicable and non-communicable diseases in Basrah Governorate, the qualitative composition of those infected with communicable and non-communicable diseases in Basra Governorate, the age composition of those infected with communicable and non-communicable diseases in Basrah Governorate, and the professional, educational and social composition of those infected with communicable and non-communicable diseases in Basrah Governorate).
The thesis aims to identify the geographical distribution of diseases, their demographic dimensions and their structural characteristics.
It was concluded that the diseases under study are spread in all the governorate districts at varying rates, with specific demographic patterns drawn according to their population composition.
The thesis recommends forming a higher committee of various specializations to redraw the health map in the governorate in accordance with local planning standards.
