The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah, in collaboration with the College of Pharmacy at Al-Ma'qal University, established a medical detachment on the road connecting Samawah and Nasiriyah to provide health and therapeutic services to pilgrims walking during the Arbaeen visit.
The Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Jubran Khalil Hassan, stated: "In an initiative considered vital by the pilgrims, a group of professors and staff from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with the College of Pharmacy at Al-Ma'qal University, set up a medical detachment on the road connecting the Al-Batha area and the Holy City of Karbala for the purpose of providing medical services to the Arbaeen pilgrims."
Dr. Jubran continued: "The detachment was established through the efforts of the staff and professors of the College of Pharmacy from both universities. Our team included professors, staff, and students, in addition to female employees for women's medical care. We provided services to walkers and participants in the mourning, including the provision of self-funded medicines and medical supplies such as supports and belts, as well as devices for measuring blood sugar and blood pressure, and everything the pilgrim needs during the journey."
It is noteworthy that this initiative by the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah is held annually on the occasion of the Arbaeen of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) as part of volunteer activities in service of the community and active contribution to supporting the pilgrims.
