The master's thesis in the Department of Psychological Counseling - College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Basra - examined the three major factors of perfectionism and their relationship to intellectual extremism among students of psychological counseling for the student (Ali Razzaq Khuraibat Helou). The thesis dealt with studying the correlation between the variables of the three major factors of perfectionism and intellectual extremism. The thesis included four chapters. In the first chapter, the researcher explained the problem of his study, its importance, its objective, the limits of the study, and the definition of terms. The second chapter included two axes: the theoretical framework and previous studies. The first axis included the three major factors of perfectionism, the theories that explained them, and intellectual extremism, and the theories that explained it. The second axis included Arab and foreign studies and aspects of benefiting from them and what distinguishes the current study from previous studies. The third chapter includes the research methodology and procedures, as the researcher followed the descriptive correlational approach. The researcher adopted a scale for the three major factors of perfectionism, and built a scale of intellectual extremism. The fourth chapter included presenting and interpreting the results that the researcher reached through statistical data, which indicated that psychological counseling students are characterized by the three major factors of perfectionism (strict, critical, narcissistic). There are statistically significant differences according to the gender variable (males-females) in favor of males. There are statistically significant differences according to the university variable (Basra - Al-Mustansiriya) in favor of Al-Mustansiriya University, and there are no statistically significant differences according to the stage variable. As for the variable of intellectual extremism, the results indicated that psychological counseling students are characterized by intellectual extremism and there are statistically significant differences according to the gender variable (males-females) in favor of males, and there are statistically significant differences according to the university variable (Basra-Al-Mustansiriya) in favor of Basra University, and there are no statistically significant differences according to the stage variable. The chapter included conclusions, recommendations and proposals. At the end of the research, the researcher recommended educating psychological counseling students about the necessity and importance of unconditional acceptance of themselves and their experiences in a manner that is appropriate to the situation without exaggerating in criticizing themselves or others, which helps them develop factors of normal perfectionism in them and stay away from negativity. The necessity of holding conferences, seminars and workshops from universities that clarify the danger of intellectual extremism in Iraqi society. The researcher gives a number of proposals, the most important of which are: Building a psychological counseling program to protect university students from intellectual extremism, conducting another study that addresses Intellectual extremism among university students and its relationship to other variables, such as mental alertness and brain dominance.
