A board research in the College of Medicine, University of Basrah, discussed the relationship between hypertension and macular thickness measured by optical coherence tomography. The research presented by the student Ahmed Najm Abdullah aims to study the relationship between hypertension and macular thickness measured by optical coherence tomography, as early detection of hypertensive disorders is attractive because eye examination is a non-invasive test that can be performed easily. The research concluded that patients who were newly diagnosed with primary hypertension had thinner macular thickness affecting several areas including the outer and inner fields. The results of the ROC analysis indicate that macular thinness can be used as an early indicator of hypertension with excellent ability to distinguish it from normal blood pressure.
