The doctoral thesis was researched in the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences / College of Education for Humanities / University of Basra entitled (The effectiveness of a proposed educational program based on experiential learning in the achievement of fifth grade primary school students in science and the development of their social intelligence).
The research aimed to: prepare a proposed educational program based on experiential learning in science for the fifth grade primary school, and measure the effectiveness of the proposed educational program on academic achievement in science among fifth grade primary school students, and the development of their social intelligence. The research adopted the analytical descriptive approach in building the program in addition to the experimental approach on a sample of (62) students distributed equally between two groups, an experimental group that studied using the program based on experiential learning, and a control group that studied in the traditional way, and the two groups were equal in variables (intelligence, previous achievement, age in months, prior social intelligence, and parents' academic achievement).
The conclusions reached by the research:
1) Using experiential learning in teaching leads to quality interaction between the teacher and the student, and between the students themselves.
2) Teaching according to experiential learning helps provide a thinking-provoking learning environment, which can contribute to improving students' ability to comprehend. This leads the student to play a positive role in showing his thinking processes in the subject being taught, organizing his knowledge, following up on it and evaluating it during learning and increasing his ability to monitor himself.
3) Teaching procedures according to experiential learning are consistent with what modern education focuses on in making the student the focus of the educational teaching process and adopting work and experience as a fundamental pillar of education.
4) Teaching according to experiential learning was effective in increasing students' awareness and consciousness of what they think. They can describe what goes on in their minds when they think, and describe what they know and what they need to know to perform a specific task
