(The impact of climate change on animal life in Basra and Maysan Governorates)
The thesis presented by the student Ahmed Hussein Abdul Ali Al-Warshaan aims to conduct an analytical study of climate change for climatic elements in Basra and Maysan Governorates, then addressed the quantitative distribution of ruminant animals represented by (sheep, cows, buffaloes, goats, camels) as well as fish wealth and the extent of the impact of climate-related diseases on them and the effect of that on their increase, decrease or extinction for the period from (1971 - 2023).
The message included a study of one of the most important and even the biggest problems facing the world today, namely climate change and its negative effects on one of the most important natural resources, represented by livestock, which will be studied in the governorates of Basra and Maysan. The study came to shed light on the impact of these changes on biodiversity for the period from (1971 - 2023), and this comes through studying and analyzing the changes that occurred in the climatic elements and their effects. The study concluded that in the study area there are multiple types of ruminants, some of which are local and others are hybrid, as the hybrid or hybrid type is characterized by being more productive of red meat, but it is less resistant to climate change, as it is affected by high temperatures, which reduces the growth of the animal and thus its meat mass decreases, reducing its meat production. It is also less resistant to diseases that spread with fluctuations in climatic elements. The study also showed that there are multiple diseases that affect ruminants and fish, which become active with the change in the climatic seasons, which may cause serious injuries that lead to economic losses for breeders
